Youth Korea Revisit Program

(Grandchildren of Korean War Veterans)

Peace Camp for Youth

 

A Eligibility:

(1) Grandchildren of Korean War Veterans (those veterans who served in Korea at anytime between June 25, 1950 and October 25, 1954) who are attending universities or colleges.

(2) Those who have not visited Korea before by the Korean government's invitation.

NB: Participants should have a good command of the English language because all programs are conducted in English.

B Schedule:

1st round: July 1 to July 7, 2010.
2nd round: July 20 to July 26, 2010 (6 Nights and 7 days)

NB: Those who attend the 2nd round of the program may take part in the Youth March along the DMZ scheduled from July 26 to August 1st.

The Ministry of Unification allocated a total of 50 people from 16 Nations for the March program.

C Support:

50% of round trip airfare (economy) will be provided to participants. Other support includes accommodation, meals and tours.

(D) Program: (Tentative)

1st day: Arrival
2nd day: Opening. UN Cemetery in Busan. War history lecture.
3rd day: Hyundai Heavy Industries. Bulguk temple in Gyeongju.
4th day: National Cemetery. War Memorial. Panmunjom.
5th day: National Museum. Palace. Miso performance.
6th day: Experience of Korean tradition. Discussion. Closing.
7th day: Survey. Departure.

(E) Administrative Procedure

The participant list for the 1st round (July 1 to July 7) will be submitted by May 15, 2010, and the 2nd round (July 20 to July 26) by May 30, 2010.

All participants must take out an insurance policy for possible accidents. It is KVA's responsibility to let participants know that MPVA or KVA are not responsible for any losses or damages to personal items, nor medical expenses, nor injuries or loss of life due to any accidents of whatever nature during their visits to Korea. The signatures of participants are required in the agreement.

Those who submitted the name(s) of their grandchild last year, do not need to send them again. Those who for some reason wish the grandchild's name to be removed from the list, please advise Paul Rochon, Revisit Coordinator, at 1st.vandoos.korea@gmail.com .

The draw will be made by the President of Legion Branch 41 in St-Thomas, Ontario, on April 8, and Paul will inform the participants and families during the week of
May 2nd to May 8th .
