Greetings for Kapyong Veterans 2PPCLI;
Dennis Smith, an Australian television
Producer/Writer with over 15 years experience in making films has
contacted the undersigned with the blessing of KVA Canada. His
desire is to document the Battle of Kapyong, 23rd and 24th April
1951. He is especially interested in giving due credit to the role
played by Commonwealth troops, that is, the actions of the
Australians (3RAR), Canadians (2PPCLI) and the N.Z. Artillery
Regiment. All three countries will be involved in making this film.
Dennis Smith will be coming to Canada to interview
and videotape veterans who consent. The undersigned is helping to
facilitate his worthy endeavour. Kapyong veterans who wish to
participate are requested to contact Dennis K. Smith,
Writer/Director, Byzantine Films, 179 Johnson Street, Fitzroy, 3065,
Victoria, Australia. Initially, he would like to open up
communications with individual veterans by letter, Email or
telephone. Email: byzantine@netspace.net.au
. Telephone: 61 3 9417 1975.
The Curriculum Vitae of Dennis Smith is most
impressive (5 pages). In early June, Dennis has been nominated for
an award, for his film 'Fabric of a Dream', at the Annual Banff
World Television Awards. Depending on how things go, he may well
commence his project in Canada at that time. At this time, please
feel free to communicate exclusively with Dennis. I do not want
to see your 'one-on-one communications' with Dennis. When Dennis
comes to Canada I will help him with his i itinerary using my
knowledge of Canada to help schedule his team to carry out the
interviews with individual Kapyong veterans who agree to be
interviewed. When you communicate with Dennis, please make sure
you include your full name, address, telephone number, Email address
and any limitations on your ability to travel a limited distance for
an interview.
I am including all addressees on this message to
reduce traffic and allow all of you to forward it by Email to
others, particularly Kapyong veterans. I know I have missed some
obvious addressees because I have mislaid your Email address.
My apologies.
Best regards, John Bishop
A Kapyong veteran and a member of the KVA
Executive
